These are some of the last conversations I had with Pete, via WhatsApp. He hadn’t given up, he was going to beat cancer:
“Soon as I know what im getting, I will tell you and then beat cancer and we'll go on the booze every dinner 🥳”
“I'll be a whetherspoons disability Champion 😅😅😅“
“How’s things Pete? I went to Barristers yesterday lunch time, with all the other regular beer lovers, It was ok, nice to be in, well out, of a pub again.”
When Pete didn’t reply I knew something was wrong. Once I knew I sent this last message, that he will never read, but would have appreciated:
Rest in peace, Pete old mate. I was glad to have known you, we had some brilliant times together in the pub, at conference and even at work. Regards, Michael Hepworth (secretary Bolton & Bury PCs).
